10 Black TikTok Creators You Should Be Following

Hi Friends! How are you?

 I mentioned in my last post that I’ve become very obsessed with TikTok recently. It’s currently my favorite social media outlet. So much so, that I can spend an entire day just scrolling through the app. If you’re unfamiliar with what TikTok is, then have you even been in quarantine?! But, basically it’s a social media app that features short videos anywhere between 15 seconds to 1 minute. The videos range from everything to dances, Amazon must haves, beauty and skincare tips, funny videos, career advice you get the point.

Everyone’s feed is pretty different because the algorithm tailors it to what you want to see so you’re constantly finding new creators and new videos. It’s the one app where I actually appreciate the algorithm! It started as a big Gen Z app, but ever since quarantine started, it has become a place for pretty much everyone. Seriously, there are doctors and industry professionals on the app.

So if you are on TikTok or thinking about joining, I wanted to share 10 Black TikTok Creators you should be following. These are some of my favorite accounts to follow and they range from educational to inspirational to just plain funny and they are all incredibly creative.

@DevanOnDeck

Devan makes incredible style videos targeted towards men. My personal favorite videos are when he shares the best color combos for an outfit. It’s definitely inspired me and my personal style to experiment more with different color combinations. Plus, I consider myself my boyfriend’s stylist so I pull a lot of inspiration from Devan’s page. His outfit transitions are incredible and he’s so creative.

Nikki Paige is incredible. She gives amazing content creator tips while simultaneously doing TikTok trendy dances to keep your attention. She also shares style inspiration and hauls and speaks out about racism in the influencer industry. She has a YouTube channel and a Podcast and I am definitely inspired by her hustle across multiple different channels. Plus her Instagram account is filled with amazing and creative photos.

@IamDariusCooks

Oh My Gosh, I can not say enough good things about Darius. He makes incredible cooking videos and his recipes always look amazing. I’m not much of a cook to be honest, but I can still appreciate his videos and I honestly just love watching cooking videos. Anyone else? But, what really shines through is his personality. He is so incredibly funny. He holds up the different ingredients the way beauty gurus hold up their products, his end motto is to “bow your head and say grace” and then just says the word grace and he calls all of his meals “snacks” even though they are full blown meals. Just watch one video and I promise you will be obsessed.

@TheReal_Tati & @GoodEatsWithTati

Tatayanna actually has two accounts. @TheReal_Tati where she shares more funny and reaction videos and @GoodEatsWithTati where she shares different recipes. Like I said, I’m not much of a cook, but she does share a pretty easy recipe for Turtle brownies that I’m dying to make. She’s so incredibly funny and genuine, I promise you will laugh. I went down a hole watching her reaction videos because she’s so hilarious.

@FaceOnlyAMotherCouldLove

In all seriousness, I came across one of Oneya’s videos in my For You page and actually started crying. He gives the best motivational and self-love pep talks in an hilariously aggressive way. He pretty much says if you feel alone right now, I see you and if you’re going through a hard time, I’m here for you. You guys know I’ve been struggling with my mental health and honestly his videos have been such a bright light in my day and I really appreciate them. He’s gone through a tough time in his personal life recently so if you only follow one person from this list today, I recommend sending him some love.

Davante is the best friend you need in your life. He gives inspirational pep talks especially surrounding relationships and how you should be treated. He’s the best online hype man and will have you feeling confident in yourself in no time. His signature video ending is whipping out a fan and saying his catch phrase “That’s on periodt!” He’s fun to watch and gives great advice.

@NicoleAliciaMD

I first discovered Dr.Nicole through her viral TikTok video where she shares how she met her husband and how her family started. It was so heartwarming and so creative in the way it was filmed and ever since that video I have been hooked. Dr.Nicole is also an OB-GYN and shares informative videos surrounding women’s health and addresses questions you may feel uncomfortable talking about. Honestly, her account is one of the reasons why I love TikTok so much because you can actually find really educational and useful information on the app. Plus she’s a lifestyle blogger and I am in awe at how she balances it all!

@JordanMarkus_

I first discovered Jordan through his “Movies in 1 Minute” videos where he takes Disney movies like High School Musical and does a one man remake of it in 1 minute. Yes, it is as insane and as funny as it sounds and it’s also incredibly creative and amazing to see. Honestly, it takes me forever to film TikTok videos so I can only imagine the work that goes into his videos! He also creates a variety of throwback Disney & Nickelodeon content as well as other funny lifestyle content and he sings which he’s pretty amazing at!

@_JasmineMensah

If you are into Disney, specifically High School Musical and if you are into Glee, you will love Jasmine! She makes the best Disney content and I always feel like I’m singing and dancing to throwback Disney Bops with her. She also has a really creative style series where she shares the style evolution of shows like Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place with her own wardrobe and also what she would wear as each Glee cast member. She’s honestly just so fun to watch and so positive, I promise you will walk away from her videos with a smile on your face.

@Asia.Lins_World

As a fellow millennial on TikTok, Asia has THE BEST millennial content and will have you remembering things from your childhood that you forgot. Her content is so fun, such a great 90s throwback that will make you so nostalgic. Whenever I watch her videos, I’m constantly like “oh my gosh, I remember that!” or “oh my gosh, I used to love those!” I feel like we’re best friends and she’s reading my mind because she is always so spot on with her videos. LOVE! I also have been noticing a lot of medical professionals popping up on my feed – it’s crazy that TikTok can be used in that way!

      Seriously! The dermatologist, dentists and ob-gyns on my feed have changed my life. The marketing director at H&M just came up on my feed and it’s so crazy that TikTok has become this big resource with so many different people!
