Well….well…well. Look who finally has a new post up… Me!
First things first, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! I had the hardest time dragging myself into work today. I had Christmas to New Year’s off and it was so wonderful and much needed. I became a couch potato, I took time for myself, I organized my life and it was wonderful.
Before the holidays, I was really struggling with my anxiety. It honestly felt like it was taking over my life. It was hard going into work nonetheless focusing on my blog hence the absence.
But, it is a new year and we are going to look forward and keep pushing on. So today I wanted to share my 2019 New Years Personal Goals. This has become a tradition since I started blogging and one of my favorite posts to write and to read. I like organizing my thoughts and putting it into one post and also putting it out there to hold myself accountable. It’s also interesting to look back and see what I wanted out of 2014 vs 2019.

2019 Personal Goals:
More Self Care Time
I can not tell you how refreshed I feel after having a little over a week off from work. Not having to rush and not having any plans, commitments or responsibilities and just being able to focus on myself was incredible. I took the longest showers. I did 101 different face masks. I painted my nails every color of the rainbow. I curled my hair just because I wanted to. And I watched way too many Netflix movies. So in 2019, I want to take more time for myself. Carving out time to do a face mask or paint my nails or organize my life. Because it really helped put things in perspective for me and help me hit that refresh button.
Be Nicer to Myself
I mentioned that before the holidays I was feeling really anxious. There was one day in particular where my anxiety was through the roof and if you asked me why, I just couldn’t tell you because I didn’t know why, it was just how I felt. I remember telling one of my friends “I’m so frustrated and angry with myself.” She told me “No. You can’t get frustrated with yourself. These things take time and you have to be nice to yourself.” And that really resonated with me. I really am my biggest critic and I’m always in my head. Whenever I feel anxious or overwhelmed, I get frustrated with myself for feeling that way and it just makes the situation 10x worse. So in 2019, I want to take things in strides, be gentle with myself, take more deep breaths and overall just work on myself and focus on myself.
Set Monthly Goals
I realized that the reason I always feel so inspired and motivated at the start of a new year is because I sit down to actually gather my thoughts and set goals. So why does that only have to be once a year? I’ve decided that in 2019, I want to start making monthly goals. Big or small, whatever, I just want to set goals to keep myself on track and motivated throughout the year. For January, I want to do “No Spend January” which is basically a month where you spend no money except on essentials like bills, groceries, etc. And I definitely want to do Whole30 at least once this year.
Stick To My Travel Plans
In my past New Years Personal Goals posts, I’ve always mentioned traveling in some capacity. I always want to travel, but never had a clear idea or plan. This year I have 3 trips that I want to plan. Throughout the year, I have these moments where I get bit by the shopping bug and buy everything in sight. But, I want to practice self control and save my money to put it towards my travel plans. I think in the past, I’ve always tried to plan something, but money or time got in the way. And now that I have a steady job, I want to take advantage and carve out time to travel with my family.
Read 100 Books
Okay, this may seem random and not as “serious” or “life changing” as the rest of my resolutions, but in 2019 I want to read 100 books. I used to read so many books on my iPad and then I missed actually holding a book so I got back into reading physical books and last year I really only read a handful. But, I did find that when I was constantly reading, it helped me relax and it helped my anxiety. Plus I have an entire list of books I want to read and review so in 2019 I’m hoping to read at least 100 books.
Thank you so much for stopping by & reading! Hope you all have a great start to 2019.
And I would love to hear some of your New Years Goals.
