Happy Monday!
How was your weekend? I feel like it flew by, but it was such a productive one so I’m not complaining. Plus, it was freezing in New York so I avoided any outdoor activities at all cost! Saturday night I worked on something really fun that I’ll be posting on Instagram later this week. I’m so excited to share and pretty proud of myself to be honest!! Since the weather on the east coast has literally been freezing, I figured today would be the perfect day to talk about my favorite winter coat: the Chateau Parka.
You may recognize the style since I have this same coat in a red windowpane print version that I received for Christmas last year. To check out that post, you can click here! I loved it so much and knew I wanted it in a more basic everyday color. And like the true New Yorker that I am, I naturally gravitated towards the black color.
I feel like shopping for the right winter coat is so hard, which is funny because there are literally hundreds of different winter coats for women. We have so many different options, which I think made us so much more picker over time. I can’t be the only one that disliked a coat just because of the buttons or the style of pockets!
I was so happy with this one from J.Crew last year that I needed to add to my collection. To start, they come in 101 colors every year so there’s something for everyone. I find that they sell out pretty early so if you see a color you love, I would definitely jump on it. Last year, they had a gorgeous hunter color that I missed out on. I think the J.Crew website sold out of them completely, but I found it available at Nordstrom.
It’s such a random detail, but I love that this coat has a zipper rather than buttons. I just feel like it’s more practical. Especially if you ride public transportation like me. It’s so cold outside, but I’m constantly running to the train so when I get there I’m already hot so it’s nice not having to fidget with so many buttons.
There are also four pockets, two on each side. The big pocket has a button closure, which is great because I put my phone and metro card for easy access and safe keeping. The smaller pockets have a zip closure which is great because I store my gloves in there and also put my hands in while I’m walking for extra warmth.
I honestly love this coat so much because it’s so warm and practical. Like I said, there are tons of options out on the market, but some of them are just not practical. Either they’re too fashion and not that warm or too warm and not as fashionable. I love that this one is a happy medium. I’m seriously considering getting a new color every year because I love it that much!
