The Free People Dress That Won’t Go Away & A Little Update

Hello Everyone! Happy April!

I know everyone always says this at the start of each month, but seriously, I can’t believe April is here! It honestly feels like we were just ringing in the new year. The weather has been less than spectacular, but the week ahead looks promising so I’m hoping that spring has finally arrived. Since I’ve been absent, I have much to talk about so today’s post is a little text heavy. I tried to break it down by topic for easy reading though!

Stuck in a Blogging Rut

You may have noticed that ever since I returned from my Vietnam trip, I’ve failed miserably when it comes to posting consistently. It’s going to sound super cheesy, but to be honest, a lot of it has to do with me missing my family. During my trip, I was pretty disconnected from the world for the most part because of the time difference and because I could only use my phone when we found wifi. It was great to be honest. I had time to catch up with everyone and spend time surrounded by my massive family. Coming home and knowing I won’t see them for another year and a half just made me sad so I’ve been a bit disconnected.

My disconnect also lead to some negativity. Specifically, me asking myself “why”? I started blogging because I loved it and I continued because it made me happy. When I started, I told myself, regardless of how many people or if anyone reads it, at least I’m doing something for myself, something that makes me happy. I’ve been doing this for two years now and I’ve just been finding myself thinking, “is anyone actually reading?” “does anyone care”? And I think because of all of that, I really haven’t felt motivated.

Woof, that’s kind of heavy for a Monday morning, but my point is, on Friday I read this post and it really inspired me. I may not get a massive amount of views, but I do have people telling me they read my blog or check it out and it means a lot to me. And at the end of the day, it makes me happy sharing style inspo and talking about life so for now, I’m here to stay.

Let’s Talk Outfit Details

Obsessed. That’s the one word that comes to mind when I think of this dress. I picked it up in blue last summer and I seriously wore it at least once a week. I picked it up in red and in cream for my trip because I knew it would be perfect to just throw on. Plus I just saw they came out with a magenta version and I almost lost myself I got so excited. Already added it to the wishlist since I’m already in love with the navy, yellow and white. Seriously, I can’t get enough of this dress, I need it in every color!

It really is the perfect piece to just throw on because it’s so comfortable and super flattering. The sleeves are fun since they have a slight bell sleeve detail and I love where it hits. The embroidery is so perfect and the details really makes the dress pop. I wore this for a day of exploring with my family so I paired it with my favorite sandals which are simple so they paired nicely with this dress. And my straw tote, which was perfect for carrying my camera, phone and of course my selfie stick.

No Spend March

Celebrated the end of No Spend March, by putting in a few online orders. See below to see what I picked up this weekend! I plan to talk more about my experience in an upcoming blog post, but let me tell you… Swearing off money at the same time that all the new spring things hit stores, is a challenge! I have to say, with the exception of a few Starbucks runs and two dinners out, I think I stayed pretty strong. So naturally I chose to celebrate by going shopping!

Woof! That was a long one, but it feels good to be back to writing and editing. If you made it through that one, thank you for reading! Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!
