Last year was Basically A Mess.
I don’t know about you, but I was Basically a Mess.
And today I’m finally Introducing Basically A Mess!!
She’s Live Laugh Linda’s grown up, more sophisticated, more on-brand older sister.
For the better half of 2020, I stayed off Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, everything. I basically stayed off my phone. Taking a break from social media really helped me focus on myself and understand what I want my brand to look like, sound like and stand for. Prior to that, I felt like I was consuming so much content and felt like I needed to have this font and this color and this aesthetic to be successful. So blocking all of that out, I really had an opportunity to think about the future of my blog, understand what I want and to act on it.
So what can you expect from Basically A Mess?
Honestly, I constantly feel like I don’t have my life together. I certainly was a whole mess in 2020. Even when life was normal and I felt like I was at my best, I still felt like I was behind. I even messed up my own relaunch and had to push it back two days! In short, Basically A Mess is a place for me to share the highs and lows of my life and the lessons I learn from them. My favorite content to write and consume are the relatable ones that share the messy moments. Because if I can connect with at least one person through any of my stories then the late nights working on a post or freezing during a winter photoshoot is all worth it.
I started my blog solely as a fashion blog. I used to have three new outfit posts up a week! I genuinely don’t know how I did that. As my blogging career progressed, I found myself in this rat race of feeling like I constantly had to buy new things to keep up with everyone. New clothes. New accessories. New shoes. New hats. New. New. New. Not only was it not financially realistic for me, it was just stupid. Don’t get me wrong. I love shopping. But, I wasn’t always buying things that felt like me or things I felt like I could incorporate into my everyday wardrobe. I was purchasing items that would make for one good photo or post. All that to say, Basically A Mess will continue to have a style aspect. I will continue linking products when applicable, but instead of Links! Links! Links!, I’m focusing on providing style inspiration.
And of course, I will continue sharing lifestyle content. Book reviews, beauty posts, blogging tips, career related content and travel content (when it’s safe to do so). And this year I’m introducing fitness and wellness into the mix, my new obsession with K-Dramas and Animal Crossing and basically all the things that make me me.
I’m really excited for this next chapter in my book and the direction my brand is going in and I hope you love it as much as I do.
Congrats on this huge rebrand love! Can’t wait to see where Basically A Mess goes from here 🙂
