Sephora Sample Review || September 2017

Hello there! I feel like this week has been moving so slow. The alarm went off this morning and I swear I didn’t know what day it was. When I realized it was Wednesday, my first thought was “that’s it??”. Anyways, today I’m back with another beauty post! I can’t tell you how much I love makeup and skincare and anything beauty related. I’m VIP Rogue at Sephora if that tells you anything. But, I don’t share it on my blog as much as I should. So today, I’m sharing a Sephora sample review for September 2017. And the reason, I’m including the month is because I really want to start doing this every month since I’m currently into trying out all different samples so I hope you enjoy these posts!

Caudalie :: Perricone MD :: Tata Harper :: Becca :: Marc Jacobs

Caudalie Grape Glow Getters: 500 Point Reward

I was so excited to see this Caudalie set as a reward option. I’ve been hearing so many people rave about the brand and figured this would be a great place to start and try it out. I have to be honest, I was a little disappointed! The set comes with a foam face wash, a gel moisturizer, an eye cream and a face mask. To start, I’ve never been a fan of foam washes so that’s not a point against the product, it’s just my personal preference. I felt as if I had to use more product because it was foam. I didn’t hate the wash, but I also didn’t love it. It’s just didn’t do anything for me, bad or good.  The moisturizer was disappointing. It was a gel which is supposed to be great for oily skin, but I found that it made me even more oily. Both products have a strong grape smell like the name suggests. I personally didn’t mind it, but if you don’t like grapes or the smell, it’s something to keep in mind.

The eye cream I actually really liked. I like the texture and it absorbed into my skin really well. It targets fine lines, which it’s never too early to start thinking about wrinkles so I love that. I would repurchase it, although it’s not an immediate purchase for me since I want something that also targets dark under eye circles. The mask for me was the stand out product. It made the whole kit worth it. I would and am definitely going to repurchase this.  It goes on like a clay and it drys down so you can see your pores and see it working. Once you rinse it off, your face looks so refreshed and feels so soft. By far my fave product. Even though I was a little disappointed in the brand, I’m still looking to try more of their other products to see what I think.

Perricone MD Hydrating Cloud Cream

Obsessed. That’s the number one word that comes to mind when I think of this product. I’m going to sound super cheesy, but the name really captures the essence of this moisturizer. It truly feels like what I think a cloud would feel like! I’m super picky about moisturizers and lotions. I hate when they feel heavy or stick to me in some way. I want to put it on and feel smooth. This is not heavy at all, it soaks into the skin right away, your face feels so smooth and because of that, makeup goes on perfectly. Would definitely repurchase. It’s a bit of splurge, but I think if you’re going to spend money and invest in anything, it should be your skincare.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask

I had a very small, one packet, one time use sample of this so I can’t tell you how this performs in the long run, but I will say, it holds up to its promise! This product claims to give an instant glow and right now that’s what I’m into. I love a crazy highlight that really shines, but I also want my skin to look glowy and healthy with and without makeup on, so I was excited to try this. The smell was a little weird. Nothing too crazy, but if you’re familiar with using natural products, then you probably know what I’m talking about. Don’t expect a perfume smell because this isn’t it. It also applies clear which I was surprised about. While drying, your face starts to feel really tight, but once you rinse it off with warm water, your face feels super smooth and you get a pretty glow. Definitely planning on picking this one up!

Becca First Light Face Primer

Again, I had a small one time use sample of this, but I was so blown away. I had one week where I was over using foundation and only wanted to wear my CC Cream. I talked about which one I like in this post, but it does make me look a little orange if I don’t prep my skin. When I used this primer and then my cc cream, I didn’t get that orange color at all and received so many compliments about my skin at work that day. I’ll admit I was a little scared of it when I first applied it.

Since it was a sample, I wanted to use every drop of it so I may have overdone it and my face looked super glowy, which while I do love that look, I aslo have oily skin so I didn’t want to overdo it. But once the CC Cream was layered on top, it was so pretty and when I set my entire face with powder, my skin looked amazing and it did stay on all day. I’m not a big advocate for face primers since I never really found one I love, but I really fell in love with this one. It’s the next thing I want to pick up to add to my routine!

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eyeliner

I actually picked up a bunch of these when I worked at Teen Vogue and the beauty department had a sample sale. I hated them, they had no pigmentation and were horrible. But then, I was reading reviews about this eyeliner and everyone was raving about it. I was so confused and finally came to the conclusion that they probably weren’t the best since they were samples. I received a small black sample of this and was excited to give it a try. For reference, in my everyday makeup look for work, I typically only wear eyeliner on my waterline. And if I do use eyeyliner on my lid, it’s typically a black eye shadow and then a felt tip liner.

Finding a good eyeliner for your waterline is so hard. Some are not pigmented enough and some are too pigmented. This one is too pigmented! I feel like I’m doing something wrong because everyone else seems to love it and I wanted to love it, but I just don’t. It’s so creamy and would make a great liner for your lid if you prefer pencil which I do not. When I apply it on my waterline, it gets messy very quickly. It goes everywhere and didn’t have the best staying power. As much as I wanted to like this one, it’s a pass for me.

Thank you so much for reading!
