It’s me. Hi. I’m the problem. It’s me.
Omg hi! It’s been…. a year…. since my last post. I’m the queen of not having my life together and being inconsistent, but a year? That’s crazy even for my standards. You would think I would have a hold on this whole work/life/blog balance by now, but alas I still don’t. There’s been so many life changes since we last spoke that I can’t wait to share, but I thought we could get reacquainted with a good ole simple shopping post featuring my October purchases.
My mom picked up this dress on super sale recently. The fabric is this amazing cotton gauze that is going to be perfect for spring/summer, but is also a great transitional piece for the current New York City weather. My mom is super picky about what she likes so anytime we find something she loves, it’s a huge win and this dress is just that. It creates the most flattering shape.
I tried this on recently in store on a whim and fell in love. I wanted a nicer puffer coat that wasn’t too heavy and that could replace my current Gap puffer and this one fit the bill. I love the longer length and how the gold buttons contrast against the black. Even though this jacket is thin, it still felt super warm when I tried it on. It’s currently $100 off on promo so it’s the perfect time to pick it up.
As always, I’m not only late to trends, but I’m also super naive to them. I started seeing these clogs on Pinterest and instantly fell in love. I even did a poll on IG Stories so everyone could weigh in on what I thought was going to be my fall aesthetic. I had no idea that they were super popular and sold out everywhere!! So I was thrilled to have snagged this pink pair. I mean I’m shocked this is an October purchase because I figured I would have to wait months for a restock. It’s light enough that it feels like a neutral, but I love pink regardless. I can’t wait to style them, but also the hunt for a taupe pair continues!
Next up for October purchases, let’s talk razors. I cancelled my Billie subscription a while back. I honestly felt like they changed something in their product and I kept getting red bumps every time I used their new refill razors. I’ve been doing research to find a new razor subscription so I’m excited to try Athena Club. I love how aesthetically pleasing the razor looks and I’ve heard good things so I’ll keep you posted. If you’re interested in trying it for yourself I have a referral link for $5 off your order.
I love skirts, but rarely find ones I love. I’m short so it’s hard to find maxis that don’t drag on the ground. Plus I have hips and a butt so it’s hard to find a flattering one where it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a potato sack. I found this skirt on the sale rack and tried it on on a whim and fell in love. I love the color and print. It feels girly and feminine but not too summery so I can still wear it in the fall. I love how it drapes along with the adjustable waistband. The best part about the skirt though is that the lining is nicely attached so you don’t have to worry about the it riding up or moving which is a big no for me especially when I have to commute to work. It’s currently on sale and available in all sizes.
Madewell Perfect Vintage Straight Jean
I have a love hate relationship with jeans/pants. I love styling them and I love a good classic pair of jeans, but as someone who has hips and thighs and a butt, it’s not always easy finding a comfortable and flattering pair. Also, full transparency, I’ve gained weight and I don’t really fit into my old pairs so I was dreading denim shopping. But, this was another sale find that I decided to try on and I’m glad I did. I love the wash and color on this pair. I actually hemmed them myself by just cutting off a few inches so it hits me where I want it to. I like that this pair has a little bit of stretch, but still feels rigid enough that it will hold you. It’s currently on sale and available in all sizes.
My mom has also been on the hunt for new denim since she wants to move away from skinny jeans. Again, mom is super picky but I managed to get her to try on this pair. I love a demi-boot crop, I swear by the Madewell Cali Denim so I figured she would like this pair. It’s super flattering on her and I love the wash. I think this denim silhouette is super versatile and flattering. It’s like a step away from a skinny jean but cooler.
Remember when I said I was late to trends and also naive. Yep, that also applies here. I saw Tiffany Guanuna (an amazing influencer we work with at b.tempt’d) wear this when she came to our Wacoal pop-up truck and thought they were so cute. Little did I know, they were so popular and selling out too. I’m happy I was able to grab a pair. They look super comfortable so I’ll keep you posted on my thoughts, but this is definitely one of my favorite October purchases.
My dream collab. I love Little Words Project. They recently just opened one within walking distance from my new apartment so I’m even more addicted. And I love Barbie and pink obviously so I was super excited about this collab.
My mom and I are obsessed with watching “What I Got For Christmas” videos and earlier this year we noticed everyone got the Lululemon belt bag. We had no idea it was so popular or why it was. Fast forward to now and you can’t leave your house or walk through soho without seeing every other person have it plus it keeps selling out! We have a Sunday tradition where we get breakfast, then head to Chinatown then make a Trader Joe’s run before heading home and this bag just seems perfect for running errands and carrying the essentials. So I’ll report back, but I’m ridiculously happy we were able to get our hands on it.
